Abstract
This interview is with James A. "Jim" MacAuley of Grand Tracadie, P.E.I. Prior to his death in 1999, Jim was the last living WWI veteran on the Island. Jim begins by telling about his birth in Tracadie and growing up in an orphanage. He then tells about his father's work as a fisherman, old fishing boats, and school. He then goes on to tell about rum running and bootlegging, joining WWI, and life after the war. He talks about horses, the MacKinnons, cars and trains, dances, and farming. Rum running, WWI, and fishing are mentioned on several occasions throughout.
