Abstract
This interview with Harry MacDonald of Merigomish, Nova Scotia begins with discussion of the history of his family's general store. Harry tells about buying fish and different meats, gives a tour of the store, tells about sawmills and gristmills in the local area, and discusses different products sold at the store. Harry then goes on to talk about other general stores in the area, lobster canneries, salmon, and more about the history of the store. Harry then tells about bootlegging, school, crime, gasoline, and community gossip. The interview ends with discussion of fertilizer and old schooners from the area.
