Malcom Macrea Irving was born on May 1st, 1902 in Cherry Valley, Prince Edward Island. He spent his entire life there working on the family dairy farm and doing the labour intensive work with little help from man or machine. Even upon his retirement he stayed on the farm and helped out wherever he could. Malcolm had a passion for reading and especially enjoyed learning about Prince Edward Island history. He also spoke out often about how technology is making farm work too easy and making direct communication a thing of the past. Malcolm died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on August 12th, 1996 at the age of 94. He was the husband of Lois Irving, the father of 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
